Aspire – A Secret Hotel Within a Hotel
My first impression when I arrived to Mohegan Sun was how much it resembled a mini Las Vegas and how easily accessible it was from my home in New York. I was really excited to get the opportunity to experience the all new VIP experience at Mohegan Sun’s new luxury hotel – Aspire, which is located on the top five floors of the property’s iconic Sky Tower. Checking in was such an elevated experience, the entrance lead to a private elevator just for Aspire guests. I was blown away with how comfortable and stylish my King deluxe room was and the breathtaking views of the New England countryside. The bathroom was really spacious and the high-end amenities really gave it that upscale touch. Being presented with a beautiful dreamcatcher as a welcome gift was really special. You should also be aware that if you book a room or a suite, 24-hour butler service comes standard with a stay at Aspire! I definitely took advantage of having in-room dining for breakfast during my stay. The food was so fresh and tasty!

The Grounds
Artistic opulence from every corner and ceiling is what you’ll be faced with when walking the magnificent grounds of Mohegan Sun. I found the reflection pool at the lobby surrounded by canopy-like trees with huge leaves made out of sparkling beadwork so enchanting! You can definitely see the inspiration of an autumn forest here! As you walk pass the lobby towards the set of escalators you’ll encounter an elaborate glass sculpture by world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly. The richly colorful sculpture consists of 2,500 hand-blown glass components and weighs 10,000 pounds! I also found the waterfall between the set of escalators so soothing to the eyes.

Activities
Mohegan Sun definitely has no shortage of things to do. There are three world-class casino’s based on the natural elements – Casino of the Earth, Wind and Sky, all of which offer slots, poker and traditional table games. They also have the world-famous Mandara Spa, which provides the most unique and indulgent spa treatments infused with ancient Balinese healing touches, traditional European therapies and regional influences.
The Mohegan Sun arena is the place to be when it comes to live music and entertainment! Top past performers include Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Mariah Carey etc. You can also catch a stand-up comedy show, WWE match, or NBA basketball game – they have it all!
Game On!, an interactive arcade, bar and restaurant, was one of my favorite experiences while staying at the resort. Located on the lower level entrance of the Earth Expo & Convention Center, the venue features an eight-lane luxury bowling alley, karaoke, ping-pong tables, shuffleboard, billiards, darts & arcade games, music stage for live entertainment, complemented by a restaurant and a 65-foot bar with craft beers and specialty cocktails.
Hotel guests can also enjoy two pools located conveniently in both Sky and Earth Tower, fitness center, and a golf course, complete with beautiful New England scenery.

Ballo Italian Restaurant
If you want really fresh authentic italian food this is the restaurant for you! I had some outstanding dishes and great drinks. The intimate and elegant cathedral-like setting + music added the final touches to a romantic night! For dinner, me and my friends had a little bit of everything – Chicken Parmigiana, Rigatoni, Organic Salmon, and Garlic bread. For cocktails we had a Strawberry Rose Spritzer (prosecco, elderflower), Blueberry Bianco Martini (vodka, lemon, frozen blueberries), and Fiore (ketel grapefruit & rose petal vodka, elderflower, grapefruit juice, moscato). Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Best believe we left feeling stuffed and fully satisfied. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse
One of the best steakhouses I’ve visited in a while. Everything was not only perfect but exceptional! If you want juicy, delicious and savory food this is the place to be! For dinner we had the Filet Mignon, Charred Ribeye Steak, and Colossal Crab Cake. For cocktails we had Mango Mojito (Pyrat rum, mango, lime, mint), Apple Crisp Martini (Captain morgan spiced rum, apple cider, apple pie liquor, touch of citrus), and Blood Orange Margarita (Olmeca altos reposado, blood orange puree, fresh squeezed lime & orange juices). The ambiance was a bit too dark for my liking but everything else was overshadowed with greatness including the attentive service! I highly recommend this place for a night out with your friends or significant other!
Vista Lounge at Wombi Rock
This 21 and over nightclub was such a favorite and stand out for me! Let me first talk about the facade of this place because it was everything!! From a mile away the nightclub looks as if it’s enclosed by a mountain full of crystal shards jutting out into the sky. Upon entry, I was immediately transfixed by the planetarium dome which was filled with iridescent, ever-changing star and weather formations. The glass staircase was also a beautiful touch to the ambiance. I was totally getting vibes from Jim Henson’s masterpiece movie, The Dark Crystal! The bar menu offers bubbly cocktails, creative cosmos and delicious dessert martinis. For drinks we had a Pina Colada (Malibu, Licor43, Coco Lopez, pineapple Juice, orange juice) and Starry Night (Ciroc Mango, St. Germain, Blue Curacao, Grenadine, fresh lime juice, soda water). If you have an appreciation for a space fantasy themed nightclub and want to lounge and dance the night away, definitely check this place out!

Novelle Lounge
During my stay, I had the opportunity to experience their new nightlife venue Novelle, which is a reimagined experience that provides a chic and social setting – ideal for a premium night out with a significant other or large group of friends. Offering dinner & late night dining, craft cocktails, VIP bottle service & public and private table games, Novelle has everything you need to turn your night into a thrilling adventure! There were already appearances made from Khloe Kardashian, Ciara & Ludacris during its grand opening.
Things to know / Tips
- Aspire guests have access to complimentary food and beverages at “Thirty Three” – private dining, bar, and Blackjack table rooms on the 33rd floor – all with a beautiful view of the Thames River.

- The Wolf Den located in Casino of the Earth is where you’ll find free live concerts almost every night.
- If you love wine and beer Mohegan Sun hosts the Sun Winefest and the Sun Brewfestin its conference center during January. It’s a weekend full of celebrity chef appearances, tastings sessions and delectable meals from a variety of regional restaurants.
